Everyone is aware about the outbreak of novel corona virus that has been spreading worldwide originating from Wuhan, China. It is just the beginning and there are going to be more such outbreaks according to health care experts. Let’s start with what exactly is CORONAVIRUS.

Corona Virus:

The most recently discovered coronavirus causes the coronavirus disease COVID-19. According to the WHO, common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death. It is dangerous for people who are old and have diabetes, heart or lung disease.

Zoonotic Diseases:

SARS, MERS, EBOLA, HIV are few of the diseases that spread from animals to humans. The main reason for these diseases is interference of humans into the wild. The source of the coronavirus is believed to be a “wet market” in Wuhan which sold both dead and live animals including fish and birds. Such markets pose a heightened risk of viruses jumping from animals to humans because hygiene is difficult to maintain when live animals are being exposed in a deadly manner. Typically, they are also densely packed. Science writer David Quammen says “If you go into a live market, you see cages containing bats stacked upon cages containing porcupines, stacked upon cages containing palm civets, stacked upon cages containing chickens”

Hygiene is completely out of question here and to add to it the animals are defecating on one another. It’s a perfect situation for viruses to spread.
There are many such illegal slaughterhouses carrying out this practice in the filthiest environment, increasing the chances of infestation. Animals are brutally killed and skinned for human’s demands and personal choices, one of the main reasons why the diseases spread from animals to humans.

Precautionary Measures:

  1. WASH HANDS FREQUENTLY.
  2. AVOID TOUCHING YOUR EYES, NOSE AND MOUTH.
  3. PRACTICE RESPIRATORY HYGIENE.
  4. MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING.
  5. EAT HEALTHY FOOD FOR GOOD IMMUNE SYSTEM.

Diet:

It is high time that we focus on building a good immune system to fight coronavirus as well as other diseases. We all need to understand that immune boosting components comes from vegetables and fruits. Now is the best time to re-think our choices and consume a plant-based diet to avoid diseases caused due to adulteration of milk, meat and other animal products. Everyone should add garlic, ginger, misc, turmeric, mushrooms, leafy vegetables and citrus fruits like oranges, lemon, limes etc. in their diet which helps in building a good immune system and fights off the bacteria and viruses.

Sustainable solutions:

From burning of the Amazon forests to the forest fires in Australia, we humans are the reasons for such disasters. We keep destroying nature and the homes of wild animals for our needs. We have gone to an extent where we get the cows raped for their milk. We abuse them, we slaughter them and use them till their last breath. All this needs to stop, animals are not ours to use.

We as a whole need to bring a change. We need to start by making a difference in our food choices. We need to stop abusing and killing animals for a cup of coffee or for a plate of fried chicken, which is ultimately damaging our body and compromising our health. There are so many other alternatives of dairy products which doesn’t require us to kill a life.

You can start by making changes in what you consume and making sure no one suffers because of your choices. If we keep destroying every non-human living being, our world is going to face constant epidemics and outbreaks. We need to stop this cruelty and start thinking like real humans. Let’s be the vaccine and not the virus to this environment. Make a difference and GO VEGAN! And learn to CO-EXIST!
